How to study Indian Economy· about 17 Prelims questions a year (2013–2024)Show

    What UPSC asks most

Money and banking, the macro economy, budget and fiscal policy, external sector and inflation: concepts plus current figures.

Most-asked topics in past papers: Money and Banking, Economy, Fiscal Policy and Budget. See the trend

    Traps to avoid

    • Confusing similar terms (fiscal vs revenue deficit, repo vs reverse repo).
    • Using old figures; check the latest Budget and Survey.

    How to study it here

    1. Learn the basic concepts first (money supply, inflation, fiscal deficit); later chapters depend on them.
    2. Link each concept to current affairs: RBI policy, the Budget and the Economic Survey.
    3. Solve the PYQs after each chapter; UPSC asks applied concepts, not definitions.

Mains: GS III: answers need data from the latest Budget and Economic Survey.
